Well, it has been a bit of a slow start for our little Online Charity Quilting Bee although I have received some wonderful comments on starting such a group. There definitely seems to be interest in doing charity quilts for causes/charity closer to home and I am hoping that this Quilting Bee will fill that interest.
I was very excited to receive Sew Generous’s very first donated quilt blocks from the wonderful Amelia who blogs at duyvken.
Thank you Amelia.
Aren’t they just gorgeous. I have not as yet decided on how to put them together but it is on my to do list.
Our goal is to do about eight quilts per year and we have met that goal this year. Earlier this year my BFF Effie and I managed to get 17 cot sized quilts to the Westmead Children’s Hospital.
They were too small for the oncology department patients so these quilts were giving to the babies in the NICU.
After the very emotional visit and seeing all these very brave children Effie and I decided that the quilts need to be bigger lap to twin sized.
So, if you have any orphan blocks, left over fabric, any half finished or finished quilt tops you would love to donate please don’t hesitate to send them to Sew Generous – we would love to have them.
